- After the attack, Admiral Kimmel is surveying the damage in the harbor and receives a message from Washington."'Attack by Japan considered imminent.' They're only an hour late."
- In real life, Kimmel got to his office while the attack was still underway, and saw his fleet burning and his men dying out the window, powerless to do anything about it. A bullet at the end of its trajectory (thus almost out of kinetic energy) punched through the window glass in front of him, struck the admiral in the chest, and embedded itself in the glasses case in his pocket. Unharmed, Kimmel pulled the bullet out stared at it, and was heard to say, "It would've been merciful if it had killed me."
- The entire aftermath, where we see masses of bloodied bodies floating in the harbor among the burning hulks of the ships they were stationed on. Same goes for the scenes at the hospital as Evelyn is forced to determine which patients can be saved and which ones are simply too far gone. Especially gutwrenching is her attempting to comfort a dying sailor pleading for his life, assuring him he'll be okay when she knows otherwise.
- The effort to rescue the men trapped on the capsized Oklahoma; the sailors within cheer as those outside try to cut their way in. Unfortunately, one such group of men are not able to get out in time, and the men above can only grab their hands as the water fills the wreck and drowns them, just inches away from survival.
- Danny's death.
