The deaths of the entire crew of the Golden Eagle, except for the privateer. Made worse that one of the crewmen escaped with her and made it all the way to Earth, only to be killed in an Invid follow-up attack.
Itzak Mlama. When the Purifiers attack, he hides in the basement with the privateer, while his father goes out to defend theior hometown. Itzak never sees his father again.
Laureline's backstory. Her village was targeted for ethnic cleansing by the Purifiers during the beginning of their campaign. She took her baby brother Samuel to a cave to hide from them. he kept crying, so she covered his mouth to keep the Purifier troops from hearing them. The next morning, she found out she suffocated her baby brother to death.
The backstory of the Founding Father of the Purifiers. As a child, he was a survivoor of a massacre pursuant to an ethnic cleansing campaign. He was adopted by an enemy family, who proceeded to horrifically, and possibly sexually, abuse him for over a decade. He ran away, joining the Space Marines. He came back to Earth nearly thirty years later, in command of a regiment to help the Southern Cross fight the Robotech Masters. After the war and the collapse of the United Earth Government, he went back to his homeland, and organized a militia to launch a genocidal campaign against those who shared the same ethnic descent as the family that had abused him.
The privateer's suicide attempt when she was fifteen years old, due to being drugged by some girls at a party, stripped naked, and the nude photos being shared online.
The girl kept captive by the cannibals in the Sudd. Instead of killing her and eating her, they amputated her legs to eat them. She is last seen having to be carted around in a wheelbarrow.
Hermes's death. He was sailing Gabe and company to a resistance base in Greece, and was mortally wounded in an Invid attack. As he drew his last breaths, he smoked some marijuana and sang the lyrics to Bob Marley's song "Three Little Birds".
Itzak having trouble remembering what his father looked like, about six months after his father's death.
The death of Judith Sharavi. A young lieutenant in the Israeli Defense Force, assuming command after an Invid attack against her bunker kills her superiors. She leads a mission to take the wounded rto another base, and is killed in another Invid attack.
Via a dream induced by inhaling Spores from the Invid Flower of Life, the privateer dreams she was an Invid from long ago, and witnesses the destruction of the original Invid homeworld. She felt exactly how that Invid felt.
Gabe and company reaching Iron Mountain, which had just been massacred by the Invid Regency.
Gabe replays a holo recording of a young woman whose husband had been assigned to Iron Mountain.
Alazar Abouudi's backstory. His wife was in the early stages of pregnancy during the Invid Invasion and she was killed. Aboudi never even found out if he would have had a son or a daughter.
The death of Gabriel Gashtar.
Gabe and the privateer are having a dance during the Ides of march ball when the alarm sounded.
There was an Invid attack, and the two of them went to their apartment to gear up and drove their Cyclones towards the base where their fighrters were.
the Invid kept ghettingh in the way, and they ended up in the space combat simulator (the same one that appeared in Robotech: The Movie.
Gabe catches a rocket to his upper chest. His head is clearly blown off.
After the battle, the privateer rushes outside, to the lookout over Tokyo Bay. She tears her yellow dress in grief and rage.
The backstory of the commando team leader who threatened to kill Itzak after the latter was exposed as an Invid. He had been stranded on Earth while his parents and older sister had been evacuated, and had not seen them in thirteen years. It is implied he was rather young when he was separated from his family.
