2017 saw the passings of John Hurt (Kane) on January 25, Bill Paxton (Hudson) on February 25, and Harry Dean Stanton on September 15. What's sadder is in Alien, Hurt and Stanton's characters were also the first two to die in the film. And then in 2020, Ian Holm, the actor who played Ash died, which is even more sadder since Ash was the third person to die in the film.
