Shocking / Who's Left Behind? Kayoko's Diary

• At one point in the film, Kayoko, having moved in with her Aunt Masae in Numazu for her own safety, is targeted by an American fighter plane, until she dives down an embankment. When she climbs back up, the first thing she sees is the bleeding corpse of a soldier who was shot by said plane, the shock is enough to cause her to faint.
• When the rest of Kayoko's family are forced to flee their home, and the air raid shelter, due to the firebombing of Tokyo, they seek refuge at the local middle school, only to find people are no longer being let in. Kisaburo manages to find an alternative way in and grabs the opportunity while he can but is shocked to find the rest of the family didn't follow him. He ends up being the Sole Survivor.
