• Kayoko competently playing her Uncle Kotaro's harmonica after several instances of failing to impress her harassing and unsupportive music teacher.
• Kisaburo, he is by far the most protective of Kayoko and the only one of the Nakane siblings to really attempt to defend her, inspite of the trouble this inevitably causes for him.
  • He is the only member of the family to attempt to get into the local middle school to escape the firestorm once he discovers an alternative way in. This crosses over with Tear Jerker when the rest of the family don't follow him like he hoped they would.
• The fact that all the children in the playground, not all of whom would have known Kayoko or Kisaburo let alone been friends with them, were willing to help them search for the infant Konosuke after he crawled after some stray cats while Kayoko wasn't looking when she was supposed to be looking after him. They were prepared to search for Konosuke for as long as it took to find him just to help Kayoko and Kisaburo and they probably would have got their families to help them if the search had taken any longer.
