The newly arrived Turbo Duelist, Yugo, challenges Yuto. Yugo summons a Synchro Monster, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, and Yuya responds with his Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. The two dragons resonate, sending the two into a berserker-like trance. Yuya rushes to Yuto and manages to snap him out of it. Yugo continues, however, and wins the duel. Yuto pushes Yuya away from the attack and takes the force of it. Yuya holds Yuto, and Yuto entrusted his dragon to Yuya before fading away. Yuya collapses and is taken home, and at Leo Corporation, Reiji orders Yuto's Duel Disk and Deck retrieved.
In the Fusion Dimension, the leader of Academia, "The Professor," tells someone that Yuzu has been identified in the Standard Dimension, and she is to be captured. The person he is speaking to, Yuri, smiles at the order. Yuri, too, looks like Yuya, Yuto, and Yugo.

- Yuto and Yugo start talking about destroying everything when they awaken. This is the first time Zarc's personality shone through.
- When Yuto and Yugo are awakening they start finishing each other's sentences and then finish on the same phrase. This hints at their ability to sync up shown in the next season.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Yuto and Yugo get these during their duel after both of their dragons have been summoned.
