The Wonder Pets get a call from an animal in distress but their phone isn't working right due to a bend in it. With the child viewer's help, the Wonder Pets must use the clues from their brief call to figure out who they need to save. It is revealed to be a hummingbird whose beak is stuck in an apple.

Save the What? contains examples of:

  • Fake Interactivity: A one-off example. The Wonder Pets don't know who they need to rescue, and they need the viewers' help to find clues.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: This episode has the characters talking to the audience, which they do not in most episodes of the series.
  • Mystery Episode: The phone loses reception and the team does not know what animal needs to be rescued, so they use clues with fourth-wall assistance to find out. The mystery animal in question turns out to be a hummingbird.
