Go To

Tropes

  • Artistic License – Law: Fred is immediately exonerated from the murder charges when the killer strikes while he's in prison, even though as far as law enforcement knows Fred could still be guilty of the earlier murders and this is a Copycat Killer.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Fred takes titles at their word, so he's annoyed when he finishes reading something like George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman and discovers that there are no superheroes in it.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Played With. It seems that Fred (all in one day) actually read and finished The Feminine Mystique book that Velma gave him, even though it was not about Mystique in the X-Men films, which he assumed.
    • Though Olive is a vapid Alpha Bitch, she's insightful about herself and about the flaws in the views that Velma holds. Velma is stunned and concedes Olive was accurate.
    • Gigi takes Velma's advice at heart and decides to reinvent herself with a casual makeover, which also catches Norville's attention.
  • Stealth Insult: Velma lets slip that she doesn't find one of Fred's proposed potential victims of the killer to fit the profile of past victims, implying that she doesn't view that student as very attractive.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The central plot centers around Velma coming up with a plan to protect the four hottest girls in school from the murderer. The secondary plot is Norville and Daphne following a lead to the Crystal Cove Mines that might help Daphne find her biological parents.
