Sapphire falls head over heels for a cute Skoot racer named Mica, and wastes no time in doing his homework and modifying his Skoot's engine to be high-performance and super-fast. Unfortunately, he has a girlfriend, Shale, who isn't happy at the new arrival. She challenges Sapphire to a spell-off and loses, breaking up with Mica when he takes Sapphire's side, but Ruby suspects something's up. Using a spell to disguise herself as a ladybug, Onyx spies on them and learns that Shale faked the break-up so Mica could use Sapphire to win an upcoming Skoot race—and after that they plan to ditch her.
At first Sapphire doesn't want to believe it, but a narrow escape from Officer Trolliron helps her realize they're right. Sapphire is furious when she realizes the truth. Pretending things are fine, she sabotages Mica's Skoot and, while ensuring that he doesn't get hurt, makes his Skoot backfire during the race. A humiliated Mica vows revenge...
