Recap / Triptych Continuum Belle Epoque

Go To

Her first prison was underground, and it took a lifetime before she recognized its nature. The newest cell has hallways and windows. Her mentor takes her outside, but she always comes back to marble floors and ponies who don't know how to look at her for more than a few minutes. She's too slow when responding to her own name, she can barely reconcile having one, and...

A prison with a lock. A prison with a door.

She's trying to figure out what the difference is. Or whether there's any difference at all.

Tropes found in this story include:

  • Cast from Lifespan: Tish is afraid that accelerating her changes will also age her by the time it would take these changes to happen naturally. Fortunately, the Doctors Bear are able to run a test to confirm that that will not happen.
  • The Reveal: We finally find out exactly what happened with Nightmare Moon in the Continuum: tired of seeing her friends die and heartsick from the recent loss of her seneschal, Princess Luna sought out a way to return to being an earth pony. At some point, the Nightmare approached and offered her an exchange of destinies. She believed that this would cause the Nightmare to become incarnated as an alicorn able to interface with MOON and SUN while reverting her to earth pony form, but instead the Nightmare possessed her body and left her trapped deep within it.
