Syu Un Syou and Kei Gai reveal that their letters from Lin Setsu A asked them to swindle Tan Hi of her crossguard. Setsu Mu Syou affirms this with the letter he stole from Lin's teacher, Renki. Ken San Un is shaken up by this turn of events, but still follows the other three as they leave Syou Fu Kan and Tan Hi in their cells. Setsu Mu Syou returns to the Tower, though, seeking Lin Setsu A's life as promised. Meanwhile, Lin and Betsu Ten Gai are having a discussion about the Tengyouken. Setsu Mu Syou interrupts this discussion, though, and before going after Lin, challenges Betsu Ten Gai to a duel. Betsu Ten Gai slays Setsu Mu Syou, and explains his swordsmanship to Lin. While this happens, Syou Fu Kan breaks out of his cell.

- Broken Pedestal: Ken San Un is a bit disillusioned after learning his big brother is kind of a jerk.
- Death Seeker: Implied. Lin Setsu A states Setsu Mu Syou has been looking for someone stronger than him for a while. And despite predicating that Betsu Ten Gai would kill him, he happily attacked. Just to get a taste of what "defeat" feels like.
- It's All About Me: Syu Un Syou tells Ken that to be famous, you will have to sacrifice many things to do so without a hint of regret.
- See You in Hell: Just before he dies, Setsu Mu Syou tells Lin Setsu A he'll be waiting to ambush in him in the afterlife.
- Worthy Opponent: Betsu Ten Gai towards Setsu Mu Syou. He tells his men to cremate his body as a sign of respect after killing him.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: While Tan Hi cries after the betrayals, Syou Fu Kan tells her that "You can regret being deceived, but don't regret trying to do the right thing".
