Tan Hi explains to Syou Fu Kan and the peculiar man, who calls himself Kichou, that the Onyx Demons need the crossguard she is carrying to draw the Tengyouken from its sealed pedestal. Not wanting to get involved any further, Syou Fu Kan takes his leave and goes into a town, where he learns that the Onyx Demons have labelled him as an enemy. He leaves town, passing by a stranger who warns him of an ambush further down the road. Exactly like the man warned him, the Onyx Demons' Ryou Mei confronts Sho and her lackeys surround him. Just then, Syou Fu Kan is joined by a warrior named Ken San Un, along with the stranger from earlier, Syu Un Syou, who defeat Ryou Mei's soldiers and force her to retreat.

Tropes:

  • Crazy-Prepared: As he explains to Tan Hi about his Bird Master skills, he claims that being generally prepared to deal with all sorts of people is pretty much his only advantage.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Every other character to be introduced with a traditional Chinese poem describing their character has had it read out by a bodiless deep-voiced narrator. Ken recites his own, excitedly, in the story itself. It's not quite fourth-wall-breaking, but he firmly establishes the sort of person he is by beating the narrator to his own poem and posing wildly the whole time.
  • Refusal of the Call: Syou Fu Kan refused to be involved battle against Genkishu and join Tan Hi's journey.
  • Trap Master: Syu Un Syou's preferred trap for fighting close ranged opponents is to shoot an arrow into the sky, then use specific attacks to force the enemy into the position where the arrow will land and pierce them.
