Gordon has broken a speed record for pulling the Express and Emily is to collect some special coaches to honor his achievement. When Diesel finds out, he tricks Thomas into giving them to him and hides them on a siding. When Emily finds out, she tells the Fat Controller and they go searching for Diesel, who is starting to feel sick. Diesel shows Emily the location of the coaches, tells her he stole them because he wanted his record for shunting trucks to be honored and that his motor is feeling funny, and runs off. Emily tells the Fat Controller, and at the ceremony Emily arrives with a brand new motor for Diesel.

- Fantastic Racism: Emily expresses this towards Diesel until the ending where she realizes that steamies and diesels are both special.
- Jerkass: Emily who constantly doesn't listen to Diesel and even says that "there's nothing special about smelly old diesels". She soon learns from this.
- Jerkass Has a Point: While Diesel did steal the special coaches, he wasn't wrong when he told Emily she should have listened to him.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Diesel. Emily as well.
- Never My Fault: Diesel says he feels sick because he was chased around by Emily. Emily responds that Diesel shouldn't have taken the coaches but Diesel diverts the blame to Emily for not listening to him.
