Always Waiting for the Next Bad News
Clay confronts Justin about the bottle of painkillers in his shaving foam. Justin explains that he had found them in Bryce's bedroom as as a one off, Justin was taking them to help him get through the funeral. Clay goes back to Ani and tells her about the drugs in Bryce's room however Ani doesn't believe he was taking them when he was alive. The police had done a search of the room and didn't find anything. Clay is furious that Justin continues to lie.
Meanwhile, Clay is named as an official person of interest in the police investigation. When Clay is at the coffee house, Monet's, a reporter shows up and Justin ends up defending him.
Jessica and Justin reveal they're back together. Alex asks Justin how he feels about secretly using drugs behind Jessica's back which freaks him out and he breaks up with Jessica afterwards. He tells her that he cheated on her which Jessica doesn't believe.
It's revealed that Justin has not only been using but also selling drugs so he can pay back his mother's ex-boyfriend, Seth.
Flashback. Justin is arrested for using drugs. He calls Bryce to bail him out. Bryce is told about Justin's trouble with Seth and pays off Seth with $5,000. Bryce then gives Justin some opiod painkillers to help get him off heroin.
Present Day. Justin admits what's been going on to Clay. He tells Clay that he believes he's the reason why Bryce was killed - because he'd gotten involved with Seth. Justin tells him that he'd gotten a text that day saying "I'm coming for you next". Ani, Clay and Justin decide to head to Seth's place to see if they can find any evidence linking Seth to Bryce's murder. They find Bryce's watch but Seth tells them that he took it from Justin in exchange for drugs. Back at Clay's house, Justin is caught using in the bathroom and he admits he stole the watch from Bryce's room on the day of the funeral.
Flashback. Zach is shown encouraging Justin to join the football team again. As his drug use was taking a toll on his physical health, Justin isn't able to keep up with the rest of the team. Zach helps out Justin when the team are drug tested and Justin knows he will fail.
Present Day. Clay confides in Justin about his hurt over Justin not telling him about his drug use. He tells Justin that he would do anything for him and gives him his prescription for painkillers.
Clay receives a call from Mrs. Baker.
