There Are A Number of Problems with Clay Jensen
After viewing the security footage from Bryce's house, Clay and Justin are brought in by police for interviews. Justin insists Clay wasn't going to hurt Bryce despite him waving a gun around. Ani begins to suspect Clay now and asks his friends whether they believe he could be Bryce's murderer.
Flashback. Clay and Ani have started to develop a blossoming friendship thanks to a mutual love for a comic book. Ani is an avid cosplayer and wants Clay to come to a local convention with her. When she goes to his house one day, Ani needs to take his measurements in order to create his costume. Clay then takes off his clothes before Ani does the same and asks Clay to take hers. Clay drops Ani home and kisses her goodbye, however she pulls back and says she shouldn't have kissed him before leaving.
The police discover underwear belonging to Ani in Bryce's room. It's revealed that whilst Ani was getting close to Clay, she was also sleeping with Bryce. She admits that he was a different person around her and respected her. The police are under the impression that Clay discovered Ani and Bryce's relationship and, in a jealous rage, Clay killed Bryce. Clay tells them that he had no idea about the relationship therefore he couldn't be jealous of something he didn't know about.
Alex starts arguing with Jessica, telling her that he's angry about her protecting Justin. Jessica tells him that she's afraid of Alex and knows he's been using steroids for months. Alex tells her that he knows she's been sleeping with Justin which soon gets around the school. Casey, one of the girls in Jessica's activist group, berates Jessica for getting back together with Justin, knowing he allowed her rape to happen. Jessica hits back saying she doesn't have to defend her personal life. Meanwhile, Justin gets nothing but praise for hooking up with Jessica.
Ani and Clay are also arguing. They fight about Ani's relationship with Bryce which she also lies about to the police. Clay starts to hallucinate Bryce who tells him he will be everywhere he goes now. Clay finds Ani in his room and she tells him she's afraid of him.
