- The Bad Guy Wins: The Ball of Spong is eaten by Bobby Bouncy Buns after being stuck in an escape pod, and the Floaty Heads were very much going to sieve the Earth. Subverted in that the mothership comes out of nowhere to admonish them for taking her sieve and the whole Earth is saved.
- Chekhov's News: Victor notes the smell of the Ball of Spong smells very minty. When the Floaty Heads ask why they should believe them a second time about them having the Ball of Spong, Victor mentions that it smelled minty, and the Floaty heads immediately believe him.
- Deus ex Machina: The Earth is saved not by U.Z.Z or them getting the Ball of Spong to the Floaty heads, but by the mothership of the Floaty heads attacking Earth. Turns out the Floaty Heads seem to have serious behavior issues as the sieve is actually the mothership's.
