While the gang is out waterskiing they’re attacked by the ghost of Old Iron Face, a pirate that was imprisoned on a nearby abandoned prison, Skull Island, where they are going to be given a tour of. But when their guide, Captain Morgan, goes missing they decide to investigate at Skull Island, while dealing with Old Iron Face.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- The Beastmaster: An aversion. While it seems Old Iron Face can controls sharks, they're just torpedoes painted to look sharks.
- Disguised in Drag: Gender-inverted — "Mama" Mione, a woman, disguises herself as the ghost of the male Old Iron Face.
- Karma Houdini: The escaped convicts Mama Mione was harboring fled the area before the gang showed up, after they learned of Captain Morgan's plan to show tourists Skull Island from the newspaper and demanded to be taken back the mainland, and there's no indication they were ever captured.
- Logical Weakness: Because Old Iron Face still wears a metal mask, he’s still vulnerable to magnets, which the gang uses to their advantage by capturing Old Iron Face using a giant magnet on the island.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: While being chased by Old Iron Face, Shaggy and Scooby are able to briefly fool the pirate by disguising themselves as prison guards, and make Old Iron Face exercise with them before they make a getaway.
