Go To

The Control Voice: The search for truth is a uniquely human process, a quest guided by our perception of an event. But what happens to the truth when what we see and what we think we see... are two very different things?

A man is put on trial for murdering the rest of the crew of a space station.

The Control Voice: Some say that the truth is only what we persuade others to believe. If so, we should be wary... for truth is easily and often hidden by the arguments of those who are false.

Tropes of Evidence:

  • Cassandra Truth: William is unable to convince anyone that his crew was really murdered by a shapeshifting alien. The court finds Robin's theory that the murders were caused by psychosis brought on by a gas leak more plausible.
  • Courtroom Episode: This episode takes place in 2037 and involves Captain William Clark being put on trial for the murder of three other members of the crew of the space station Meridian. He is defended by his ex-wife Robin Dysart.
  • Downer Ending: Dr. Helene Dufour privately reveals to William that she is actually the alien and goads him into attacking her, leading to him being sent to an asylum. The final scene shows the real Dufour's corpse, meaning the alien killed and replaced her.
  • Significant Reference Date: Three crewmembers of the space station Meridian were murdered by the alien entity on June 20, 2037. This episode was broadcast on June 20, 1997.
  • Treacherous Spirit Chase: The alien would lure people to their deaths by turning into loved ones or enemies.
