Tootie gets into an emotional battle with her mother when she comes by Peekskill for a visit.
This episode contains examples of:

- Hates Their Parent: Downplayed, as Tootie doesn't hate her mother, but her attitude towards her throughout the episode until the end is rather cold and somewhat disdainful.
- Honest Advisor: Mrs. Garrett advises Diane in regard to her relationship with Tootie, bringing up an incident with her son in the past that encouraged her to ask, "better questions."
- Love-Obstructing Parents: Upon finding out about Jeff, Diane initially forbids Tootie from seeing him again, much to the latter's distress.
- My Beloved Smother: Tootie feels as though Diane is this to her, constantly trying to manage her life and not let her do anything she wants to do or even listen to her.
- Poor Communication Kills: Tootie and Diane's relationship primarily suffers from a lack of communication, so in the end Tootie promises to tell her everything, even stuff she doesn't want to hear, while Diane will let Tootie have more freedom and protect her when needed.
- Tension-Cutting Laughter: Tootie and Diane's argument is cut short by the two having a mutual laugh over Tootie saying that she wants to be an actress not a stuntwoman.
- Toilet Paper Prank: Natalie, Kelly, Jeff, and Tootie TP one of Stone Academy's statues as revenge for a basketball loss.
