Recap / The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You Ch 144

Go To

Mai is recounting the events of the previous chapter when Kusuri notes that she and Karane have been part of the family for awhile, but Karane has never said much about her own. Ahko would also like to hear about them, but Karane says she doesn't want to talk about her family.

Kusuri is concerned, but Naddy (likely thinking of her own experiences), says that everyone has their own things to deal with. Momoha agrees that Karane doesn't have to talk about them if she doesn't want to. Yamame jumps in to talk about her father.

Some days later, Rentarou is walking Karane home from a hike when Karane notices that he's limping. She makes him show her his leg and discovers a blister. Since she knows her family is all out for the day, she invites him inside to bandage it.

Naturally, her entire family comes home as she finishes putting the bandage on.

The family stares in surprise as Karane's older sister, Karano, asks if Rentarou is Karane's boyfriend. Upon realizing that he is, her mother Karana insists that she didn't want to give them a big, hearty congratulations. Her father, Karahiko, says likewise. Karano says that the idea never even crossed her mind. Karane's little brother Karato says no way, as do her grandparents Karayo and Karazou. Karano's children, Karara and Kararu, aren't as articulate as the rest of the family, but agree.

Stunned, Rentarou gives a confused thank you as Karane insists she wasn't happy about the well-wishes. Her mom, sister, and niece insist that they weren't. This leads to an argument among the whole family. Could this be a Super Tsundere Family Ultimate?

Karane and Karano demand Rentarou's input on things. Instead, Rentarou kneels down and formally introduces himself to the Inda family, promises to make Karane happy, and says it's nice to meet all of them. Unsurprisingly, the family says that it's not that they think he's an amazing boyfriend or anything as they invite him to make himself at home and offer snacks. Rentarou thanks them, but Karane is mortified that he now knows what her family is like.

She flees the house and Rentarou swiftly follows. Her family does likewise, but not because they're worried or anything like that. Rentarou declares that he'll bring her home, and they decide to leave it to him.

Rentarou finds Karane at the park, where she admits that she didn't want him to see her family. Rentarou is confused, since they're clearly a loving family. Karane knows this, but insists that her reasons for keeping them secret aren't his business.

Rentarou can't help but comment on how cute her brooding face is, and Karane admits that she's totally not afraid that Rentarou will start thinking that any child he has with her will end up being a tsundere too and that it might make him not want to marry her.

She's mortified when she realizes what she just admitted, but Rentarou laughs. After all, Karane thinks, what kind of high schooler is thinking about that stuff? Rentarou says that her baby would certainly be adorable, and he's certain that the two of them would make that baby the happiest in the world if they were to do so. Karane is touched, and the two share a kiss.

Then Karane realizes that that was basically a proposal. Rentarou nonchalantly agrees.

The chapter ends with the narrator wondering how this proposal will affect Rentarou's family.

Tropes:

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: And grandparents. And siblings. And niblings.
  • It Runs in the Family: We learn that Karane's tsundere-ness was inherited by her whole family. She worries that this will happen to any possible children she has with Rentarou.
  • Trauma Swing: After running away from home in embarrassment, Karane is found sitting on a swing in a deserted park.
  • What If the Baby Is Like Me: Downplayed, since there is no possibility of a baby at the moment, but the reason Karane didn't want anyone (especially Rentarou) to meet her family is because she was afraid that finding out her whole family is tsundere would make Rentarou not want to marry or have children with her. Rentarou, of course, thinks such a baby would be adorable.
