Recap / Teen Titans Go S 7 E 37 Whodundidit

Go To

While the Titans are mansion-sitting for Bruce Wayne while he's busy tracking down Clayface as Batman, Robin sees that someone has intentionally clogged Bruce's personal toilet, and has to find the culprit to avoid dealing with Batman's vengeance.

Tropes:

  • Beneath Suspicion: After accusing all of the other Titans and Alfred, the episode ends with Batman arriving on the scene, and revealing that the toilet clogged itself; it was actually Clayface hiding in the form of a toilet all along, and he was tired of the other Titans nearly blowing his cover by playing around in the bathroom, so he thought he'd be left alone if he appeared broken.
  • The Butler Did It: Stated verbatim when it turns out that, after the other Titans made their own messes but cleaned up after themselves, Alfred went to flush a dead goldfish and caused his own mess.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Clayface is briefly mentioned at the start of the episode as the reason why Batman/Bruce isn't home, and turns out to be the one that "dun did it" in the end.
  • Dumpster Dive: Once Robin starts his investigation, he immediately does this, and finds some discarded toilet paper with Beast Boy's footprint on it as a clue. However, it turns out Beast Boy cleaned up his own mess and then used the remains to TP Robin's motorbike.
  • Loophole Abuse: Robin makes the other Titans swear not to touch anything else at Wayne Manor after jumping on a couch and knocking over a lit candelabra...but once Robin leaves, Cyborg points out the promise didn't include shooting stuff, and he does so.
  • Sherlock Homage: In order to find who "killed" Bruce Wayne's toilet, Robin dresses up in the stereotypical Sherlock garb and starts saying things like "Elementary!"
  • Sherlock Scan: Upon identifying a single clue that points towards one of the other Titans, Robin is able to use his deductive reasoning to accurately flashback to every single thing the accused had done that evening.
  • Toilet Humor: While the whole episode revolves around a clogged toilet, the only time one is shown being used is in a flashback to a past Thanksgiving, when Batman stunk up the bathroom in Titan Tower so badly that Raven (whose bedroom is directly next to it) has the motive of getting revenge by ruining his own bathroom.
