Recap / Teen Titans Go S 1 E 48 Mas Y Menos

Go To

Robin agrees to train two young up-and-coming superheroes, but his methods prove to be.... unconventional.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Irony: Robin wanted to teach Mas y Menos about the "true" values of superheroism, like how to strike the perfect pose, that the twins consider to be superficial. Meanwhile, the twins themselves teach the Titans about things like how to cook proper meals and the value of teamwork, acting as better teachers than Robin.
  • Lazy Bum: Robin views the rest of the team as this and tells them to shape up when Mas and Menos come over.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Due to irrationally thinking that Menos is a bad influence on Mas, Robin intentionally keeps them apart for as long as he's able to, preventing them from using their speed powers to manage their energy levels. When the brothers do reunite, their accumulated energy has charged so much that it threatens to blow up the entire planet.
  • Production Throwback: Cyborg pulls up redubbed clips from Teen Titans in order to find out who Mas y Menos are, and what would happen if they built up too much power by being separated.
  • The Scapegoat: Robin continuously blames Menos for trying to drag his brother Mas down and tarnish his bright future, for no explained reason and despite them giving Robin the exact same answers.
  • Shout-Out: Mas y Menos decide to treat the Titans to home-cooked tamales after seeing them eating junk food and pizza, which they instead deliver to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
  • Spoof Aesop: After Robin gets himself greatly injured in order to prevent Mas y Menos from an energy overload, Cyborg states that the Titans actually learned something about self-sacrifice from him. This outrages Robin, as the lesson he intended to impart was about how you should always selfishly put yourself in the spotlight.
