Recap / Stories Of Sodor S 3 E 13 Extension

Go To

The Peel Godred Branch, long abandoned, is finally extended. Several new engines arrive to run it, one of whom causes quite a stir.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Continuity: Following Peter's arrest, it is revealed that the engines struggled to keep up the heavy workload until Geoffrey is transferred to Sodor as a permanent resident.
  • Identical Stranger: As it turns out, two engines called Arthur were made, the latter one being in 1943.
  • Mythology Gag: Percy, Thomas, and James can be seen triple heading a train like they did in King of the Railway.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Edward arrives a few minutes late to Vicarstown, but The Fat Controller confesses he didn't notice.
  • Unusual Euphemism:
Paul: Arthur's due to be coming up the branch now!
    Hurricane: Oh, globbits!
  • Wham Line: Joey reveals to Adam that the POWs he drowned were indeed war criminals who scammed Jews into being sent to concentration camps, including Radek's brother but Adam must decide for himself if he did the right thing.
    • Apparently, the Arthur in the trailer first fired in 1943, years after the accident.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • The Fat Controller scolds Edward and Toby for their behaviour towards Arthur, who he wanted to personally welcome to Sodor as the newly assigned engine to the Peel Godred Branch. He is unaware of their history with Arthur's predecessor.
