After a string of accidents, compounded by an increase of competitions from the roads, the Mid-Sodor Railway is forced to close down leaving the date of it's engines momentarily uncertain.
Tropes featured in this episode:
- Foregone Conclusion: Many viewers who have seen the television series or read the books will know what will happen to the MSR engines.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: Falcon vows to have a go at anyone who attempts to prove that the accident resulting in injured passengers was Duke's fault. Cue the arrival of George.
- Mood Whiplash: A positive example: right after the somber revelation that the railway is closing, we immediately cut to the next morning where Atlas gives Duke a Jump Scare, followed by the good news that they've already been sold.
- Mythology Gag: Falcon and George have a word-for-word exchange from "Steamroller."
- Police Are Useless: Once again averted, when a cop, after hearing about George's actions from a witness, takes him in.
- Surprisingly Happy Ending: Just when it looks like the story's heading toward a Bittersweet or outright Downer Ending, its revealed all of the engines were sold to the Skarloey Railway, meaning they all get to stay together.
