An historic trial is held for one of Sodor's engines after they are arrested for war crimes.
This episode provides examples of:
- Artistic License – Law: Isn't it customary during a trial for one lawyer to stand down when his opponent's objection is sustained, or for the judges to at least acknowledge the objecting lawyer?
- Bait-and-Switch: At first, it looked as if Adam was going to be arrested. But Joey said Peter's name.
- Big "WHAT?!": Blurted out in succession by Edward, Diesel and Adam when Joey announces the engine under arrest to be Peter.
- Downer Ending: Peter being sent to Railgate is essentially this.
- Fantastic Racism: Peter's outburst counts as this as he accuses all Germans of being blindly devoted to Hitler.
- Peter: You’re right! That’s all they were! Everyone keeps banging on about how they were innocent and sick! Who’s to say they didn’t help make bombs and bullets?! The whole bloody country was so devoted to Hitler that they’d do whatever he’d say, and all Nazi soldiers started as Nazi civilians! FUCK GERMANY AND EVERY DAMN PERSON WHO LIVES THERE!!!
- Wham Episode: The episode ends with Peter being sent to Railgate for 15 years. Then again, when you consider that the other two outcomes could’ve been life in prison or the death penalty (the latter of which would most likely entail a compulsory Final Firing), the 15-year sentence is much easier to bear.
