Several years ago, an engine named Andreas arrived to look after the Mid-Sodor Railway's express. He didn't exactly get on with the others.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Corrupted Character Copy: Andreas, who is an express engine and prefers passenger trains, is a narrow gauge Gordon. But he is rude, insulting, hates goods trains (whereas Gordon has willingly taken goods trains) and lacks all of Gordon’s redeeming qualities.
    • As a yellow narrow gauge tank engine, he is also one for Duncan.
  • Foil: Andreas is this to Gordon. Both are proud and boastful engines whose favourite job is to pull their railway’s express passenger trains. But while Gordon is ultimately a good engine who cares about his friends, Andreas is arrogant, rude, and cruel, and when he’s punished for leaving the passenger behind, he convinces himself it was the passenger’s fault for restricting him to goods, when in actuality it was Andreas’ own fault for leaving said passenger behind.
  • Never My Fault: In his thought, Andreas blames the passenger for putting him on goods duties, even though he was punished for leaving him behind.
  • Oh, Crap!: Andreas steams at his fireman for trying to fix his valves. After realizing that he nearly injured his hand, he shows an expression of regret after Falcon informs him he will be in serious trouble.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: The episode focuses on Andreas' time on the mid-Sodor railway years ago.
