Go To

Arriving to school after the night of the fire, Tino and Bobby notice the police investigating and decide it's all over. Tino goes to surrender, while his friend follows reluctantly. The principal ignores them and they hopelessly witness him to to the pavillion of Gele the guard to retrieve the camera HDD. However, they breathe a sigh of relief when the disk is missing, the police, left without evidence, leave, and Tsekov is left to vent his anger on Gele for being drunk on duty. In a classroom, Marinova confronts Savov, worried about the investigation, but he calms her down that no one knows he has the disk. Despite that, she's reluctant to keep having sex with him at school and tries to convince him to do it in his apartment, but he refuses.

In the gym, Tsekov tries to get the arsonist to surrender by delivering a Breaking Speech to the ninth-graders. It fails and he has some more cameras installed, then goes back to his office to try his own investigation, but the police will hear none of it. Before long, the schoolday is over and Tino and Bobby head out. They pass by the mystery drummer's apartment and this time go upstairs and ring the bell. An elderly man invites them in, where to their surprise they see their nerdy schoolmate Filip behind the drums. Tino is impressed by Filip's demonstration of skill and immediately invites him into the band, but Filip is insulted that Bobby ignored him a few days ago, and refuses. Tino forces an apology from his friend and Filip reluctantly agrees to try to play with them once.

In the evening, Marinova is in Savov's bed after they've just had sex, enjoying her stay, but he pushes her away, prompting her to leave. To his dismay, she forgets her slippers.

The next morning Filip gets out early, excusing himself before his father with going to aikido training, and meets Tino and Bobby at his grandfather's apartment. He's nervous about skipping class, but Tino convinces him and they start playing. Meanwhile, Savov returns Mariova's slippers and wants a break because things between them are getting less casual than he likes. Filip, Tino and Bobby arrive late to their respective classes, the latter two getting chewed out by Savov. Filip tells Ani he's unsure about playing in the band and Ani tries to convince him with the argument that no one would try to mug him if he befriends Tino and Bobby. At the end of the class, Savov calls Tino and Bobby aside and shows them the camera footage and declares he won't give them away to Tsekov, but Tino gets angered by his berating and leaves. Bobby later criticizes him in the bathroom, then they talk about only taking Filip in the band temporarily because he's nerdy. It turns out he was in one of the bathroom stalls and overheard, only to leave, offended.

Later Dimitrova tries to awkwardly flirt with Savov, who is trying to get Marinova's attention while she ignores him to talk to the principal. At the same time Tino and Bobby try to apologize to Filip with an astronomy magazine and a Yoda T-shirt, but he still doesn't agree to play with them. Later, however, he strikes a deal with them to have a chore (stacking firewood) done for him while he's pursuing his astronomical hobby. Meanwhile, another deal is attempted by Tsekov, who tries to get Savov's help at getting the problem student Tino expelled, in exchange for Tsekov giving Savov a reference for a CERN project. Savov refuses and later goes to vent about it with a friend over pool. The meeting turns sour when the friend starts bragging about his successful life as a business managernote  and Savov leaves, resentful. When he gets home, he contemplates the hidden hard drive and whether he should take up Tsekov's offer.

Later that evening, Tino and Bobby (mostly Tino) are done stacking the firewood at Filip's house while he and Ani are off to take photos of a comet. Seeing as Filip's parents are out in the country, Bobby invites some schoolmates over for a party. Filip and Ani notice and head indoors, where the party is already full swing. Ani spots Tino and tries to talk to him, but he ignores her despite himself. Then Bobby arrives to hit on her, but she leaves, annoyed. Filip gets a surprise call from his parents that they're coming home early, and the party is over, leaving him, Ani, Tino and Bobby to clean up. The latter three get out through the window and escape.

The next day, Savov walks to Tsekov's office, determined to turn the hard drive over to him, but has a change of heart right in front of the door when he hears Tino and Bobby playing the guitar outside. He sits on their bench and warns them that people like the principal are waiting for any misstep, then breaks the disk. Tino, who until this moment antagonized Savov, is humbled. The incident is witnessed by Ghetto, who reports to the principal but couldn't film it. Later, they hang out at an abandoned house, upset that the band won't get off the ground, when Filip arrives and agrees to join, reading a pedantic list of 46 conditions.

This episode features the following tropes:

  • Bathroom Stall of Overheard Insults: When they talk at the school bathroom, Bobby wants Filip out of the band because he looks "like he's from the Star Trek fanclub" (which he is) and Tino says they'll only take him temporarily (presumably so that he can change Bobby's mind later). Filip walks out of a bathroom stall and quits the band.
  • Brick Joke: Filip's father finds some lingerie in his uniform (stuffed there by Bobby in a hasty escape while he was wearing said uniform) and assumes Filip had sex. He's overwhelmed with pride and congratulates his son, granting him some more allowances.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: When Tino and Bobby arrive to pick Filip up and pretend to be his aikido partners, Bobby says "Bonsai" means "goodbye". Filip corrects him (also wrongly) that it's "Banzai".
Bobby: Goodbye, Mr. Stoychev. Bonsai. note
    The Colonel: Bonsai?
Bobby: That's Japanese for "bye". note
    (Cut)
    Filip: It's Banzai. note
  • Wild Teen Party: Bobby stages one at Filip's house.
