Recap / Regular Show S 03 Ep 22 Replaced

Go To

Upon learning Benson is gonna fire them and hire two more efficient workers in their place, Mordecai and Rigby attempt to sabotage the duo to save their jobs.

  • "Cavemen vs. Astronauts" Debate: Mordecai and Rigby attempt to use one on Chad and Jeremy to postpone their work. It backfires when they agree on the same answer while the former two spend three days arguing about it.
Rigby: Who would win in a fight: a two-headed dinosaur or a robotic Bigfoot?
    Jeremy/Chad: Robotic Bigfoot.
Rigby: Really? One of you wouldn't have the opposite opinion and start arguing about it for three days?
    Jeremy/Chad: Nope. Robotic Bigfoot.
Mordecai: What?! But Sasquatch is not a killer!
Jeremy: Maybe, but he'd definitely win in a fight with a dinosaur.
    Mordecai: A two-headed dinosaur?
    Chad: Two-headed or not.
Mordecai: But the dinosaur would be twice the size and made for fighting! Bigfoot doesn't have the killer instinct.
Jeremy: Three words, dude: Pea-sized brain.
  • Jerkass Ball: Benson's plan to take pictures of Mordecai and Rigby's faces when he fires them is unusually mean-spirited.
  • Job's Only Volunteer: Benson opens up two spaces for new employee applicants, obviously intending to replace the duo, and by the end, he almost succeeds in hiring a more competent pair while firing Mordecai and Rigby... except the applicants reject it because the shenanigans they endured throughout the episode aren't worth the pay and they sarcastically wish Benson good luck in finding anyone who's up for it.
  • Karma Houdini: Mordecai and Rigby were late for six jobs in a row, including being two hours late for the job in this episode, and tried to sabotage the job to keep it from being done, but keep their jobs because Chad and Jeremy didn't want them.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Benson planned to fire Mordecai and Rigby and take a photo of their faces so he could always remember their reactions when he told them. At the end of the episode when Chad and Jeremy reject his job offer and he is forced to rehire Mordecai and Rigby, they get their revenge by taking a photo of his reaction.
  • Never My Fault: Benson is angry at Mordecai and Rigby for trying to sabotage Chad and Jeremy's work, ignoring that hiring them to replace the former for no reason other than spite was the whole reason they did so in the first place.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Jeremy and Chad turn down Benson's job offer and fly off, determining the job to be beneath their skills.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Appears to be one for Mordecai and Rigby when they get fired anyway after sabotaging Chad and Jeremy's work. It ends up being one for Benson instead as all of his efforts to replace Mordecai and Rigby are for naught as Chad and Jeremy reject the job offer, forcing Benson to rehire Mordecai and Rigby.
  • Status Quo Is God: Although Benson follows through with his threat and fires Mordecai and Rigby, not even a minute later is he forced to hire them back when Chad and Jeremy bail on the job.
