The Pokémon School spend a work experience day at their nearby Pokémon Center, where its Nurse Joy has become too ill to take care of patients. Team Skull returns to the scene and caused havoc...until they also need the Center's help as Zipp's Garbodor suffers an infection.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Foreshadowing: Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that the Nurse Joy who shows up to help with Garbodor has a different colored brooch to the ones worn by the Nurse Joy who'd fallen ill, and the Pokémon School Students. It's revealed at the end of the episode that she's actually the Nurse Joy from Akala Island.
- Friendly Tickle Torture: Both Poipole and Ash do this to Pikachu at the start of the episode.
- Once a Season: This marks the return of Ash's crossdressing Running Gag after an absence in the XY series.
- Sick Episode: For Nurse Joy, who is being constantly waited on by her Blissey and Comfey.
- Vomit Discretion Shot: We almost needed one for Ash when Garbodor's impacted sludge is cleared, causing it to spread a terrible stench from its infection. A quick-thinking Lana has Popplio use Bubble Beam to clean it up real quick.
