Having learned that Oshawott's unreliable Aqua Jet is due to its fear of opening its eyes underwater, Ash takes it to a lake to help it overcome its fear while the others relax. Overcoming this obstacle soon proves to be more urgent than they anticipated when Scraggy angers a bunch of Foongus back at the campsite, causing them to hit all the other Pokemon with Poison Powder, and with no Pokemon Center around for miles, their best shot at a quick cure is an herb that grows at the bottom of the lake. Unfortunately, things are complicated even further since the lake is being controlled by a rowdy Palpitoad and its sidekick, a Stunfisk.
Tropes
- Acrophobic Bird: Oshawott is still afraid to open its eyes underwater despite being a Water-type. He gets over it and masters Aqua Jet by the end of the episode, allowing him to help collect the herbs for the antidote and defeat Palpitoad.
- Oh, Crap!: The Tympole panic after Oshawott stops their attacks. Palpitoad also has this reaction when it sees Oshawott flying right toward it with Aqua Jet.
- Too Dumb to Live: Really Scraggy, antagonizing a bunch of Pokemon that can poison you and your friends was a stupid idea.
