Recap / Our Cartoon President S3E17 "Closing Arguments"

Go To

Trump's chances of reelection are dropping and he's considering actually campaigning. Joe Biden is struggling to motivate Democratic voters to vote for him.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Lack of Empathy:
    • When Trump is instruction to listen to average voters, he shows nothing but contempt for them and their problems.
    • When Mike Pillow gets his arm caught in a pillow-making machine, Trump ignores Mike Pence's recommendation to help him, even if it means he looks like he's compassionate to the press.
  • Mystery Box: In the Cold Open, Trump tries pulling this and promising to open it only after he wins the election. Then immediately Eric Trump jumps out of it, having been locked in it by Don Jr.
Donald Trump: This bungled slight-of-hand is in no way a perfect metaphor for my presidency.
  • Narcissist: It takes Mike Pence convincing him that everyone else is also Donald Trump for the President to express empathy for them.
