A cover page mini arc that focus on Wapol, the villain of the Drum Island Arc. After being sent flying from the island by Luffy, Wapol just goes around eating anything and everything he can find. However he eventually come to realize he's not royalty anymore and goes into depression. However during his funk, he unwittingly creates a new type of metal that'll become prominent in future arcs.

Main Summary

Wapol, recovering from Luffy's attack (and the landing), goes about eating and transforming into different things to annoy people. He goes too far and tries to eat a town though, and is soon captured by the Marines. After escaping his arrest, Wapol becomes a hobo and realizes that he's not a king anymore.

After a brief stint as a wannabe little match girl, Wapol spends his days under a bridge eating garbage. Playing around with his Munch-Munch powers, Wapol begins creating toys from the trash. Seeing that the local children are interested, Wapol decides to sell the toys. Business becomes so good that Wapol is able to open his own store, but even that can't keep up with the demand.

A scientist studying one toy discovers that a new metal was formed, and Wapol is soon hailed as the creator of Wapometal. Wapol is able to open a larger store. He builds a toy factory, soon becomes the head of the new Wapol Conglomerate and marries Miss Universe. Wapol has returned to the lifestyle he prefers!

Wapol's Omnivorous Rampage has the following tropes

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Wapol creates the new metal by accident simply from just milling around with his powers.
  • Adapted Out: Averted as of Episode 778, which featured this story told in about four minutes.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Wapol learns he can use his powers for profit rather than evil.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Subverted; it looked like he was going this way, but the very last installment shows he went straight back to his old Manchild Jerkass self (though possibly with a slight level in kindness, as he keeps the dog that kept peeing on him while he was living in a garbage dump).
  • Riches to Rags: Through most of the arc, even looking like a hobo for a bit. He regains them at the end of the arc.
  • Self-Made Man: Surprisingly, Wapol ends up regaining his status and wealth by creating a successful toy corporation and inventing a new metal.
