Go To

Airdate: March 23, 2015

As Nya infiltrates Chen's followers, the Elemental Masters form an alliance only to be shattered by the reveal that Chen has a spy in their midst.

Tropes:

  • Cliffhanger: Cole and Zane have escaped, Nya is caught by Clouse and forced to flee, and Chen and Skylor are actively conspiring against the Ninja.
  • Elimination Houdini: In-universe; Mr. Pale passed the first round without participating in a single round (beyond the opening Jadeblade hunt)Explanation .
  • Evil All Along: Skylor turns out to be Chen's daughter and is actively conspiring against the Ninja.
  • Idiot Ball: The Ninja knew about Skylor's Power Copying abilities and also knew that another Elemental Master could alter their appearance at will. Despite this, they never consider that Skylor could've copied Chamille's powers and used them to hide her tattoo, and simply take her lack of tattoo at face value.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Chen freely admits that he's been capturing the Elemental Masters and stealing their elements. He nonetheless turns the Elemental Masters against each other by claiming the winner gets his staff (which is a lie) and revealing that there's a spy among them (which is actually true).
  • Not Helping Your Case: Shade isn't the spy, but his actions really don't make a good case for himself.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: The final match of the tournament's first round—Shade versus Tox—happened between the last episode and this one, and all we know about it is that Shade won.
  • Red Herring: Shade is set up as the spy. He's not—though the Ninja don't find out, the real spy is Skylor.
  • Red Right Hand: Garmadon reveals that this would help expose the spy—each Anacondrai Cultist has a distinctive tattoo on their back, using his own (obtained from his brief apprenticeship under Chen) to demonstrate what they should be looking for.
  • The Reveal: Chen's spy is revealed to be Skylor—who also happens to be Chen's daughter.
