The Third Great Beast Arc is the twelfth filler arc in the original Naruto anime and the eleventh of the Post-Sasuke Retrieval filler arcs.
Short Summary
Lee's rehabilitation gets complicated which forces Tsunade to remove him from performing missions. As he continues to train with Guy, a new disciple called Yagura comes along which may force Lee into an undesirable position with his beloved mentor.
The Third Great Beast arc has the following tropes:
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: "Yagura" presents himself as a friendly young man who only wants to learn from Guy. In reality, he is in fact Genshō Ryūdōin. Eldest of the three Ryūdōin Brothers. Who are seeking revenge on behalf of their deceased father, Agira Ryūdōin.
- Family Honor: The Ryūdōin Brothers desire for revenge stems from their desire to restore their father's pride. After they had learned that their father had once been defeated by Guy years before.
- Posthumous Character: Agira Ryūdōin is only seen in flashbacks, having already passed away before the start of the story arc.
- The Reveal: As it turns out, Agira did NOT want revenge on Might Guy. Rather, he had come to respect Guy so much that his only regret was that he would not get to have a rematch with him.
