After Baby Shady is rescued from the mud, Woebegone tries to leave Paradise Estate again. The ponies track him down once more, and find him when the tree he was hiding in goes up in flames. At their asking, he reveals the end of his backstory, explaining that after he accidentally dunked the witch in her own cauldron and tried to apologize by explaining that he's a naturally unlucky clutz, she cursed him to be precisely as unlucky as he thought he was. His calamity magnetism manifested soon afterwards, causing him to be kicked out of his town, and bad luck has followed him ever since.
Having heard the rest of the story, the ponies figure out that Woe's curse is fueled by his own belief in it. They convince him to try thinking positively, and his deliberate rejection of his bad luck ends up being what's needed to finally dispel the curse and his ever-present storm cloud vanishes. Once the curse is lifted, old witch appears in a flash of magic to congratulate him on his achievement, and uses her magic to fix the harm the curse did.
Woe is ecstatic over being finally free of his curse, and after accompanying the ponies back to a repaired Paradise Estate decides to head back to his home. As he leaves, he promptly trips over a rock... and laughs it off, since a bit of clumsiness can happen to anyone.

- Clap Your Hands If You Believe: Woebegone's curse is ultimately fueled by his belief in it. As long as he's convinced that he's unlucky, unlucky he shall be.
- Cue the Rain: When Woebegone was first cursed, the first major disaster to strike was a large rainstorm opening up above him. When he remarks that it's not so bad, it turns into a lightning storm.
- Scary Stinging Swarm: When Woebegone tries to leave Dream Valley, he disturbs a Stock Beehive that falls down and releases a swarm of angry insects that promptly chase him down.
- World-Healing Wave: When Woebegone breaks his curse, the witch appears before him, congratulates him for learning his lesson, and uses her magic to undo all the harm it caused.
