Deadly Gas: The trap will release carbon monoxide and kill Murdoch if he uses the phone to make a call that could save Julia from the noose.
Latex Perfection: This is how James Gillies managed to impersonate Dr. Ogden. Murdoch recreates it in concept, having Crabtree pose as himself to demonstrate to Giles how it could have been accomplished.
Race Against the Clock: The team knows that Julia is innocent, and they have very little time to save her. She's actually sentenced to death already.
Recorded Spliced Conversation: Based on the testimony Murdoch figures out James Gilies used spliced telephone recordings from Dr. Ogden to fake the phone call. He is able to replicate this with a call of his own using recordings from Chief Constable Giles.
