Conditioned to Accept Horror: Manny, one of Vera's child mules, shows up his lieutenant DJ in analyzing Elliot's relationship with Krista. Vera shoots DJ to death for his incompetence, all the while the kid remains stone-faced.
You Have Failed Me: As mentioned in the Conditioned to Accept Horror example above, when DJ fails to notice a link between Krista and Elliot, Vera quickly disposes of him. Vera lampshades this, stating that he requires someone "more detail-oriented" before delivering the coup de grâce.
