Recap / Mobile Suit Gundam 00 S 1 E 24 Endless Poem

Go To

Setsuna flashes back to two years prior, when he first met the other Gundam Meisters. Allelujah and Tieria were skeptical of Setsuna because of his young age, but Lockon accepted him from the beginning, as he know that Setsuna wanted to change the world as much as the other Meisters.

Sergei advises Kati to retreat, as the UN Forces have taken too many loses to finish off Celestial Being. Kati agrees with him, however she has orders from the UN to continue their pursuit with the assistance of reinforcements. Their conversation is interrupted when the presumed-dead Patrick shows up in his damaged GN-X.

Back on Ptolemy, Sumeragi asks Ian about the status of the Gundams repairs: Kyrios is fully repaired, but Virtue can only deploy in its Nadleh form. Tieria interrupts with a request from himself and the other surviving Meisters: they ask Sumeragi to formulate a mission plan to take out the UN Forces and show the world that Celestial Being cannot be defeated.

On the bridge, Christina catches Feldt writing some letters. Feldt explains that she's writing letters to her late parents and Lockon to apologize to them for not being able to join them, as she fully intends to survive the upcoming battle. Christina muses about writing a letter of her own to her estranged mother on the colonies, while Lichty reveals that he was orphaned during the Solar Wars. Elsewhere, Allelujah tries to talk Tieria out of being reckless, but Tieria is determined to avenge Lockon. Feldt goes to deliver her letter to Lockon to the Dynames and finds Setsuna there with Haro. The two of them bond over their grief towards Lockon's death and lay Haro to rest inside Dynames's cockpit to keep Lockon company. They are interrupted when the UN Forces finds Ptolemy. The UN Forces are now led by the psuedo-GN Drive powered mobile armor Alvatore, which fires a massive particle beam at Ptolemy.

Setsuna and Lasse launch in the combined Exia and GN Arms and engages the Alvatore,. Kyrios launches with Hallelujah controlling Allelujah and engages Soma and Sergei. Tieria launches in the Nadleh and engages Patrick. Setsuna tries attacking the Alvatore, but its GN field is too strong even for the GN Arms's firepower to penetrate, and it gets off another shot that severly damages Kyrios and destroys Ptolemy's medical bay, killing Doctor Moreno. Tieria manages to put up a decent fight against Patrick and the other GN-Xs despite Nadleh's lack of armor, but one of the Alvatore's particle blasts hit him allowing Patrick to critically damage his Gundam. Using Trans-Am, Tieria manages to take out Patrick and the rest of the GN-X mooks before Nadleh becomes inoperable.

Back on Ptolemy's bridge, Christina tricks Feldt into going to the assault container where Sumeragi and Ian have gone to fight. Feldt arrives just before Sumeragi and Ian separate the container from the rest of Ptolemy to fight more effectively. Shortly after, a GN-X manages to fire directly at Ptolemaios's bridge. Lichty shields Christina with his body, revealing that his right half was replaced with cybernetics after the incident that orphaned him. Christina thanks Lichty for saving her and then apologizes to him for not realizing what an amazing guy he was. After Lichy dies from his wounds, it's revealed that Christina has been fatally impaled by a piece of shrapnal. Sumeragi, Ian, and Feldt try to contact Christina, who gives Feldt some last pieces of advice about staying fashonable and asks the others to change the world. The remains of Ptolemaios's bridge explode.

Setsuna and Lasse decide to attack the Alvatore at close range to penetrate the GN Field, but Alejandro deploys pincer claws that force them to separate their mobile units. Setsuna is undeterred and continues to attack Alejandro.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Anyone Can Die: Bridge Bunnies are usually safe in Gundam anime, so Chris and Lichty's deaths are quite unexpected.
  • A Death in the Limelight: Chris and Lichty die the same episode that reveals their backstories.
  • Let Them Die Happy: The mortally wounded Christina lets Lichty die believing that he saved her life.
  • Ship Tease:
    • Kati's reaction when she learns that Patrick is alive implies that she returns his affections.
    • Setsuna and Feldt's conversation at Lockon's funeral foreshadows her crush on him.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: The Alvatore's particle beam, which attacks a wide radius and can be fired in rapid succession.
