Don't Make Me Take My Belt Off!: When Nels learns about his daughter's treachery and that she embarrassed Laura, he vows to teach her a lesson … and – after ordering her to apologize to Laura – he takes a belt upstairs. The resulting whipping is unseen, and this time he orders Mrs. Oleson to stay out of it.
Humiliation Conga: Reversed – what Nellie successfully accomplishes by playing the talking machine back in class, with Laura's recorded voice revealing her crush on Jason. The entire class laughs, Laura is humiliated, Mary is embarrassed and Miss Beadle is outraged.
Late for School: When she realizes she's been caught and that she's going to have to deal with her very angry father, Nellie tries to get past Nels by saying she's going to be late for school. Nels sends her to her room and says she's not going today – she's got a much different lesson to learn. (It's implied that said lesson was school is not a social, elitist club where you make fun of others you don't like.)
