  • Bittersweet Ending: After the relaunch, Gordon admits he had little optimism in its long-term future due to the arrogance of its owner and manager David, who insisted on butting heads with Ramsay and the rest of his staff at the expense of his restaurant's ability to function. Surely enough, the restaurant shuttered just after the episode aired, and Gordon returns to find it had been replaced by another eatery. On the upside, the young server who had been so supportive of Gordon's efforts is shown to be doing well since the Black Pearl's closure, and Gordon finds the new restaurant with its new food to be excellent.
  • Blatant Lies: Gordon discovers that the lobster dishes, which purportedly came from Maine, were all imported from Canada. The restaurant's arrogant owner David repeatedly makes excuses and sees no difference, and Gordon damn near loses it when he can't get him to fess up to his blatantly false advertising.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: David points out that just because they're not enforcing the rules doesn't excuse the fact that Cat has a drink after her shift.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: David, one of the three co-owners. His only incentive was to trash Gordon and the changes he made to improve the restaurant, only for the restaurant to shutter shortly thereafter.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: While Gordon commends Greg for his efforts and genuinely being the one owner who actively cares, he lays into the other two for their lack of commitment; David getting the brunt of it.
Gordon: That was tough. I mean really tough, and personally I've got mixed feelings about this week, because I still want this to succeed for Greg because he's got the determination and the guts to make it work, but, on the other hand, David, well... I think he's just opened a restaurant because he wants to make a quick buck, and that, is not the reason to open a restaurant— that man has no passion. Tough...
  • Small Name, Big Ego: David. If his ego were any bigger, it would have its own orbit.
