Recap / King Of The Hill S 8 E 4 The Incredible Hank

Go To

Hank takes Bobby to the doctor to get him some testosterone supplements to boost his energy, but Hank becomes the one who sorely needs a testosterone boost. Meanwhile, Bobby faces his fear of showering after gym class.

Tropes:

  • Big "WHAT?!": This is Hank's reaction when he finds out that not only had Peggy been slipping testosterone pills in his drinks, but also that Bobby lied about conquering his fears of going in the locker room's shower. And he found out this just before he's about to go running with the bulls.
  • Could Say It, But...: The doctor's statement after Hank throws the prescription in the trash is interpreted by Peggy as him telling her to secretly give Hank the testosterone, but he denies that this was his intention after she actually does so.
  • Honor Before Reason: Hank's stubbornness is on full display in Act 3. He decides to run with the bulls without the testosterone, to prove to Bobby that a man has to do what he has to do. And refuses to do it with the patch. And later, when Bobby confesses he never showered, Hank still goes through with it, this time to prove his integrity.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Hank puts Dale's "clone theory" to bed in an epic way when the latter thinks he helped "another Dale" fight a Mongolian army:
Hank: First, you're not gonna clone a super-warrior out of a guy who can't even win a thumb-wrestling match. Two, you've spent your life swearing that the robots will eliminate the clones by the year 2010, so which is it, robots or clones? Three, you've already said you sympathize with the invading Mongolians of 2087, so you'd be the last one they'd send to fight them. And four, if you were from the future, you would have seen this coming. (Punches Dale in the arm)
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Hank Hill after drinking the testosterone supplements Peggy put in his coffee, but soon he becomes more aggressive by continuous doses Peggy makes him take.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Neither Hank nor the doctor take it well when they find out Peggy had been slipping an overdose of testosterone to Hank, causing not only his strength and confidence to disappear, but also causing his testicles to shrink.
