Other dub names: Weather or Not (4Kids)

It has been raining for five days on the island of KikoRiki. Carlin tells Krash and Chiko about the moon crow. According to a Native American legend, a great crow lives on the moon. He grows stars in the garden and waters them with the water from his beak. When the water spills, it rains. Dokko laughs at this story, since the moon crow is unscientific. He talks about the real process of the appearance of rain. This is a field of science called meteorology. Dokko reads readings from his meteorological instruments and makes a forecast: Tomorrow it will be sunny and clear.

The next day, Dokko finds out that it is still raining outside. He notices Krash and Chiko and tries to hide from them under a chair, but he is quickly found. The two angrily demand an explanation. Dokko quickly invents the factor of sailing sailboats and sends them out of the house. Then Krash and Chiko go to Carlin. The crow puts on a shaman's costume, takes a tambourine, and begins to perform the ritual. During the ritual, an angry Dokko comes and demands to stop this anti-scientific nonsense. Carlin ignores him and finishes the ritual. The rain stops instantly, and the clouds disperse, revealing the starry sky. Dokko is left in shock.

The next day, Dokko leaves the house in a shaman's costume. He beats the tambourine and asks the moon crow to make it even hotter tomorrow. Carlin tells him about a fiery rabbit living in the sun that is responsible for the temperature of the air. Dokko attentively listens and records, because meteorology is an exact science.

Tropes:

  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Whether or not the moon crow really exists or it was just a coincidence is kept ambiguous. There's also a fact that Dokko's forecast was technically true, since he didn't specify the exact time it will stop raining.
  • Rain Dance: Inverted. Carlin does the ritual dance and mentions a legend Native Americans had about the rain, but the goal was the opposite of what the real rain dance was made for; to make it sunny again, which works out.
