Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 5 E 4 Dragon Scouts

Go To

After a trio of thugs try to steal a priceless statue, Jackie suspects the Dark Hand even they're on parole and doing community service. Meanwhile, Jade has an unpleasant run in with their nephews.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Everyone Has Standards: As obnoxious as the nephews are, they don't agree to crime and willingly help Jade against the real thieves (the museum curator and two guards).
  • Evil Parents Want Good Kids: The Enforcers don't want their nephews to end up crooks like them. The nephews don't even know their uncles are criminals.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Not publicity, but Jackie is this to the nephews as their uncles lied to them about being big shot import/export businessmen and that Jackie always follows them because he's jealous of them.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Jade at first thinks the Frank, Rocko, and Charlie are shady like their uncles. They actually follow the rules.
  • Put on a Bus: Finn, Ratso, and Chow are incarcerated and return in the series finale.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Subverted with the Scoutmaster. He made a rule to the Dragon Scouts that the zoo is off limits for their bird watching activity, which normally is fair enough, but then chews out Jade for going into the zoo and threatening the boys after he failed to notice them mocking her and deny her a badge. The only reason Jade went into the zoo is because the nephews threw her hat in an animal's den after playing keep away with it. What's more Jade could've died if she didn't have the rooster talisman to escape the zoo.
  • Skewed Priorities: Jackie catches Jade floating in the air and deduces she has the rooster talisman and demands she hand it over. Uncle uses his two finger strike on Jackie and gives her a broom to clean the cobwebs from the ceiling.
