- Deconstruction Crossover: The episode has the usual irrelevant humor found in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), its sequels, crossovers with the Avengers and other I am Groot episodes. But the twist is that Uatu is stopping by, watching the sacred timeline, expecting things to go a certain way, and Groot subverting his expectations at every turn.
- Deconstructive Parody: Of what Uatu usually sees on What If. He can't interfere, just sit in frustration as Groot doesn't do as he expects.
- Out-of-Genre Experience: Inverted. Uatu has to deal with "Guardians of the Galaxy"-style craziness, rather than his usual craziness found on What If...?, which is par for the course for this show.
- Prophecy Twist: Uatu realizes the prophecy was a metaphor and that Groot is the seed that will bring peace when he grows up.
