The Dragon Weeps before Daybreak

With Lamorak's escape, the trail to the cabal has gone cold and the triumvrate alliance has gone back to square one. During the talks, King Carl of Feendrache notes that his kingdom is facing attacks from dragons from Albanorum and may not provide input any time soon.

Word about dragon sightings at Nimue Village eventually reached to the crew, much to Lancelot's horror. As they investigate the village for confirmation, the crew finds out the dragon attacks may be connected to Feendrache's own dark past.

Tropes

  • Bluff the Impostor: Vane finds it odd that Miles has gone to Wales for a trip, despite the nation being in heavy lockdown due to the cabal. To confirm his suspicions, Vane asks Miles if he visited any of the border towns and becomes dismayed once he's told the towns there have a "relaxing atmosphere".
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Siegfried notes that he doesn't know much about his birthplace or his parents and spent much of his early life alone, which all of this changed once he meets King Josef.
  • Disability Superpower: The loss of Siegfried's eyesight gives him an easier time sensing dragons in its place.
  • Driven to Suicide: Seeing that they've basically betrayed their village and the Valiant, the duo of Ban and Miles chooses death and enters a crumbling building to solidify their decision.
  • Enemy Mine: There was a period in Feendrache used the Valiant to invade other kingdoms, which stopped when Megatherion became a much bigger threat. After the beast was put down, the wars continued, only because nobody wanted to shoulder the blame on summoning Megatherion.
  • Eye Scream: Zigzagged. While Siegfried's eyes are fine, he sustained scars around them that prevent him from opening them up for the majority of the event. After being told about his dragon lineage, he partially gets around the issue by embracing said lineage.
  • Not Quite Dead: While Fafnir stated that Excalibur was used to kill a beast named Megatherion, Maleagant reveals that Excalibur wasn't at its full potential, thus it never killed the beast and only puts it to slumber.
  • Sequel Hook: The event ends with Albanorum, under Morgan's trickery, declaring war on Feendrache in response to the latter pardoning the Valiant by making them their citizens.
