Recap / Golgo 13 Ep 1 At Pin Hole

Go To

After a gangster turned CIA informant with top secret information hijacks a plane the FBI and CIA are forced to call in master sniper Duke Togo to save the captured hostages and prevent the guy from making his escape. Unfortunately, the hijacker has the plane completely locked down and threats to kill everyone on board if his demands aren't quickly met, which means the only way to ensure the safety of the passengers is to nail the guy with a single killshot. With time running out the police are forced to shoot out the tires on the plane, buying Golgo a much larger window to complete his task, but causing the view to the cockpit to change positions from what he was told to prepare for. Now Golgo has to make an already impossible shot at the disadvantage of a bad angle and extreme distance... and he only has one bullet to do it...

  • Boom, Headshot!: The episode ends with Golgo 13 firing a single bullet that soars over the runway past the scattered police units and nails the hijacker dead in the forehead through the front cockpit window.
  • Hostage Situation: The main reason the cops can't just shoot the hijacker is because he has a whole plane full of hostages and will kill them all at the first sign of attack. Because of this the only way to take him out and rescue the civilians safely is to make a single long range shot to kill him in one hit. None of the standard police officers can be trusted to do it so they bring in Golgo 13.
  • Shoot the Hostage Taker: The main goal of the episode is to pull off a particularly tricky version of this trope with a single well-aimed bullet. Somehow Golgo manages to accomplish the supposedly impossible feat even when the odds end up stacked against him.
