Recap / Glitchtale S 2 E 4 Love Part 2

Go To

Frisk hurts Toriel to gain another LV, and goes out in search of Betty. Meanwhile, Asriel takes a good long self-reflection about his relationship with Frisk, and what he should do. Frisk reaches and fights betty, but their 3 LV is nowhere near enough to defeat her, and she stomps them without taking a single point of damage. They're saved by Asriel pulling a Big Damn Heroes, but this comes at the cost of Asriel's life, as he is unprepared for Betty's Kumu-scythe technique. Asriel is devoured by Akumu, and Betty is happy. She won't be in a few minutes.

Frisk, absolutely enraged by Betty murdering their friend, uses a glitch to jump their LV from 3 to 19 - the absolute highest it can go while still allowing mercy as an option. Now that Frisk's LV is so high, the Curb-Stomp Battle is on the other foot. Betty can't defend against Frisk's attacks, Sword Beams, and Flash Steps. Her attempt to attack them back is easily countered, and Frisk slices her arm off. Betty draws on Hate, but can only use so much without losing herself again.

But then she gets another, better idea: she uses Hate to revive Sans (whose soul she collected in Dust) and has him fight Frisk. Corrupted Sans puts up a good fight against Frisk, partially from Frisk's reluctance to fight him and partially from him being strong in his own right, until Papyrus arrives to save them. Papyrus then attempts to get through to Sans, relying on their familial love to remind him of who he was before his corruption.

It works, although once freed Sans falls into a coma. By then Betty has retreated, but now Frisk realizes that there's a chance to save Asriel too, using the opposite of Hate- love, of the non-acronym variety. Later, though, Frisk watches their hand glitch out and realizes that they don't have much time left...
