• Call-Back: The events of “The Christmas Spirit, Part 2” are mentioned, as Eric claims that after he was electrocuted, he can see ghosts.
• The Gilded Age: The flashbacks are set in 1875. They explore Hetty’s relationship with her father.
• I See Dead People: As indicated in the title, Eric claims to be able to see the ghosts now, but Sam and the ghosts immediately realize it's all a bluff. It's when he claims to greet Flower, who Jay knows was "sucked off", that his ruse falls apart.
• Mandatory Line: As Sass and Hetty are looking at Hetty's portrait in the basement, Nancy, one of the Cholera Ghosts walks by, looks at the painting, and says "Nice ankles, ya whore!" This is Nancy's entire appearance in the episode.
• Old-Timey Ankle Taboo: The opening flashback shows Hetty arguing with her father over a painting she posed for that shows her flashing her ankle, which he finds obscene.
