Now off on a hero's journey, Galavant, Sid and Isabella are in need of money and sign up for a jousting tournament. Meanwhile, King Richard tries manning up to impress his wife.
Tropes featured in this episode:
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Isabella gets Jean Hamm drunk on absinthe in a Honey Trap to increase their chances of winning.
- The Beard: Jean Hamm calls Isabella Galavant's "beard" as a jab towards his sexuality.
- Informed Flaw: While there's no denying that he's out of shape, a lot of characters point out that Galavant has visually gained weight when he's still the svelt, delicately groomed Pretty Boy he always was.
- Manchild: King Richard still gets spoon-fed his dinner. "Here comes the horsey!"
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: After putting Galavant through a grueling, day-long Training Montage after years of physical neglect, Galavant is left virtually immobile from sore muscles. He only manages to win by standing up from sheer willpower.
- Training Montage: Isabella gets Galavant back into shape for the tourney to the song "Stand Up". They duel with swords, he has her sit on his shoulders while wielding a lance, doing pushups, etc.
