Go To

"Cutting It Close" is the second season premier episode of Full House.

While playing house with Jesse and Joey, Stephanie accidentally cuts off a portion of Jesse's hair. Jesse's panicked reaction and resultant attempt to rectify it afterwards leads him to an accident that warrants the rest of the Tanner family members taking care of him, all while Stephanie blames herself for Jesse's predicament.

This episode provide examples of:

  • Haven't You Seen X Before?: Broken-armed Jesse asks Danny upon noticing that Danny has been observing him making a "simple" bowl of cereal and trying to eat while his arms are still in plaster cast and, therefore, unusable.
Jesse: What's a matter? Ever seen a grown man eat a bowl of cereal before?
Danny: Not like a Great Dane.
  • It's All My Fault: Stephanie blames herself for causing Jesse's accident, all because she accidentally cut his hair in her pretend haircut game.
Stephanie: I only scalped him, crashed his bike, and broke his arm. No wonder he's mad at me.
  • Phrase Catcher: Specifically in this episode, Stephanie serves this role when D.J. says "I can't believe you did that" to her after the latter accidentally cuts off a part of Jesse's hair. By the third time, Stephanie is showing clear signs of annoyance.
    D.J.: I can't believe you did that.
Stephanie: I can't believe you're still saying that.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Jesse certainly thinks so after Stephanie accidentally cuts off a portion of his hair while playing house.
Jesse: (after checking the back of his head) I've been butchered.
  • You Are Grounded!: Self-invoked by Stephanie, who insists on grounding herself as punishment for accidentally cutting off Jesse's hair and especially after Jesse has an accident while riding his motorcycle that leaves him in plaster over his upper torso and both of his arms.
